Homemade

Dog Biscuits

Here is a recipe I use to make dog biscuits for everyday use instead of buying "Shapes" or "Marki" type biscuits.

They are easy to make and once you get used to making them can take as little as 15 Min's to prepare. The ingredients also cost less than buying ready made biscuits and best of all you have an endless supply and know exactly what is in them. The amounts stated below make enough biscuits for my 4 for approx. 6 days.

 Ingredients

750 grms of Wholemeal plain flour  ( I find Tesco own to be the cheapest)

125 grms of Lard  ( Again Tesco Value is Lard is fine or just save any fat from cooking sausages etc which is free and makes another tasty change)

14 to 16 mls of Milk (Any milk will, including dried milk)

4 Oxo cubes (Any flavour, but don't use Knorr ones as they don't crumble!!!)

 Method

1. Put the flour into a large mixing bowl and crumble the oxo cubes over and mix together.

2. Put the lard in a bowl or mug and melt in the microwave for approx. 2-4 Min's.

3. Pour the melted lard over the flour and rub it in thoroughly.

4. Make a well in the middle of the flour and add the milk, mixing it into dough.

5. Take half the mixture and roll it out to approx. ½ an inch thickness.

6. Cut out appropriate sized shapes and place on a baking tray.

7. Cook at approx. 160 "degrees C"for approx. ½ to ¾ of an hour (or until the biscuits are hard).

8. Allow to cool before putting into the "Treat Jar".

Quick Fix Fishy Training Treats

Here's a quick  alternative training treat to liver cake which can be made in minutes and most dogs love it.

Ingredients

1 Tin of Sardines in Tomato sauce.

90 to 120 grms of Plain Flour.

1 Egg.

Method

1. Put the tin of sardines in a mixing bowl and mash into a paste.

2. Add the egg and mix in with the sardines.

3. Add the flour and mix together into a dough.

4. Put the mixture into a microwaveable container (similar in size to a takeway dish) and spread it out evenly.

5. Cook in the microwave on full power for approx. 3 minutes, it should resemble the same consistency as "Bakers Moist Chunks".

6. Turn on onto a plate and cut to size.

7. Put into a container and go.
